 When we moved out of Canada to live in a new country, all I could think about was moving home... but it didn't make me happy... Here's a lady who is asking the very same question.  Would you prefer to live close to your family or as far away as you could get???

I Learned Something New Today About Meditation

If you do something for someone, do it because you want to do something nice for that person. BUT EXPECT NOTHING IN RETURN! THAT IS ACTUALLY A RULE!! You will be amazed at how long you will watch FB to see if they jump on there to thank you. Try this... do something and turn off FaceBook for the entire day.

How To Do A Solo Road Trip

 At first glance, this did not appeal to me at all, but something drew me to the article... and I had no idea why until I began to read it.  It was then I realized why I hated road trips soooo much. The first line will explain it all. So, if you never thought that you would want to do a solo road trip... you might change your mind after reading the article. Negative Chatter Always Happens At Night

 Mom is in the hospital possibly with pneumonia and that is all that I could think about as I tried to get to sleep last night. I knew that dwelling on it wasn't going to help her or me so I turned to one of my meditation practices of concentrating on your breath. It took a while but I managed to drift off to sleep, only to wake up again to begin worrying again. Thankfully, concentrating on my breaths helped over and over and I woke up this morning to find an update from my sister. It's not pneumonia but they are keeping her in for observation because they aren't sure what is causing her symptoms. With 14 people having been admitted already from her nursing home, staying in the hospital is probably the best thing that they can do for her...

And I can thank the techniques that I have been learning to help control my thoughts! They worked when I really needed them to!!

You Aren't Off The Hook... Just Because You Meditate

I have been working hard the last two months... even doing the floor work which is incredibly hard. I have had back issues for years and I'm doing my best to strengthen my core, but I still have a long way to go. I don't know how one sits on the floor to meditate without feeling the effects... but that is another story.

Anyway, I have been not exactly bragging about the little gains that I have made, but I have been sharing them. Well today I had a set back. It all started with an arguement that I just couldn't let go of and I'm still not passed it. Darling daughter even took me into town to try to shake it off, but that was a waste of time... I feel bad for her. I just wasn't in the mood for shopping.   I will do meditate again tonight and hopefully I can put this behind me...  I'm hoping for a much better tomorrow!!

I guess that it takes a lot of time!!

How To Be Blissfull

 I think that is what drew me to meditation in the first place. I couldn't remember the last time I felt bliss. But I think that lately I have started thinking about life in a different way. I want... all the time. That was my idea of bliss. I am letting all of that go and my thoughts now are more in line with... how can I help?

I grew up thinking that I had to be successful and if I wasn't, I wasn't worth anything. Maybe success if not what I thought it was. If I can help one person today feel a little better...maybe that should be my goal.

Meditation... Just Too Hard For You???


 Try meditating in a different location!  I had to do this many times in the beginning. And when the temps warm up, I will probably take my practice outside.  But honestly it does get easier. I'm not thinking about the passing minutes hardly at all anymore and I'm closing in on my second month. Still have a long way to go, but I'm noticing little things taking place in my brain lol... like how I see things. :)

I didn't know it but May is Mental Health month and a great time to get into a new practise that will help you feel better. It's already working for me... but I have to stress, this is a long term thing and what is nice is that it is a habit that you won't want to give up!!

Playing Games

You probably weren't expecting this, but I think that it has benefits to help you cope with your life. Today I want you to download The Sims 4 game if you don't already have it. Now create yourself as your main character and then create your perfect life just for fun! Now put on a timer and play for 30 minutes. It's like creating your own life... where you get to do things you probably never thought of.

We don't play enough... in case you never noticed!! Now which character will be you??  And yes it's available for PC and Mac in case the photo is confusing.

I Didn't Realize That I Did This

Well, I guess that I did know that I was always in a rush, but maybe not to the point... until it was pointed out to me... in a book! I do everything fast... even eat breakfast and I really have no where to be most mornings. It's just a bad habit!

Anyway, this morning, I took my time and had a long leisurely breakfast and it actually felt good! It's all about taking your time and relaxing.

Meditation Messes With Men's Minds

 I really want to know more about this, but unfortunately the page would not load for me. Doesn't that just drive you crazy!! I'm giving you the link just in case you can get it to work for you. I've been trying to talk hubby into giving meditation a try but now I want to know why it's "messing with men's minds"! All I know is that he really has no use for it himself, but if it helps me... he's fine with it. I do have to wonder now why he doesn't want to try it??

Depression Vs Anxiety

Well, I learned something today that I didn't know. You are depressed if you live in the past. You have anxiety issues if you live in the future.  I constantly think about all the horrible things that COULD happen in the future.  At least I know what I'm dealing with...

So now I know what I'm dealing with. My mom... lives in the past. Odd how different thinks will affect different people.

**And by the end of this week, I will have completed 2 monthes of Vipassana  Meditation and I am seeing some tiny improvements!!  And this morning, I managed 15 minutes without opening my eyes even once to check how much longer I had to sit in one spot without moving lol!! And yes, your eyes do kind of weird!

Medical Students Taught To Meditate

 I never really thought of the stress that a doctor would have to deal with. I guess after a few decades, you kind of get a handle on it, but a brand new doctor... which I now have. I wonder how he deals with it. I would imagine that he is seeing a whole new side dealing with patients with a a brand new practice. Who do they turn to when they are stressing out about a particular patient?? I would imagine that they have all kinds of backup during residency... but what about after, when they are all by themselves?

 And this just jumped out at me... "Physician burnout exceeds 70 percent in many specialties, he says, and suicide rates among doctors are consistently among the highest for all professions. “You can suffer with your patients,” he adds."  That is pretty frightening and not something that I ever thought about.
