My Blissful Walk To the Post Office

Yesterday was breezy, but it was a warm wind and I took advantage of it to go for a long walk to the post office. I was in no rush, but simply watched my footsteps and listened to the wind. Occasionally I would glance up to check for traffic, but that was it. Today was just a blissful walking meditation and the time just flew by. I sometimes wish life would fly by like that!

I Need To Find That Other Voice

Are you listening to your inner critical voice?  I definitely listen and way too often . I'm always wondering if someone will read what I say and think that my grammar is terrible, I spelled something incorrectly, or any number of other reasons that would make me want to quit this blog. I wonder where my supportive voice is,  the one who wants to tell me, that none of that matters if I can help even one person?  I think that I will give some thought to  that voice today. Maybe it's afraid to come out as much as I'm afraid to listen to it.

Saturday

Today is a No Procrastination Day

Today, I have decided... no procrastinating. You would be amazed at what you can do when you put your mind to it!!  And, it helps if you have a story that you can listen to as you accomplish the chores that you have set out for yourself. I just glanced down at the clock on the computer and it's only 11:00 a.m.  My house is spotless and there is only one thing left on my to-do list. And I feel great!!

I Thought Things Through This Morning

As usual, I tend to jump to conclusions and I did it again this morning. While I could have jumped to a very good conclusion, that was not the one I picked. I instantly decided that there had been an accident and blood pressure went through the roof. I then stepped back and surveyed the situation and noticed that there were breakfast dishes on the table and a pot of coffee on the counter.

This is an amazing step for me, and I hope that you will step back and look for "clues" before you jump to a conclusion that sends your blood pressure through the roof.

Thursday

For The Next Couple of Minutes...

As I mentioned earlier, I spend multiple minutes throughout the day reminding myself of the need to relax. Right now, I'm going to do the same for you.

Now set the timer. For the next couple of minutes, I want you to just lean back, and let your eyes relax. Slowly breathe in out and let your mind drift until the timer goes off. Try not to dwell on anything. We are doing our best to slow down our thinking. We do way too much of it anyway lol!

I Should Be Feeling Better...

Unfortunately I'm not. Today I met with a nice young man who is going to try to help me with my anxiety issues.  The problem I think is that he suggested some things that he wants to try that I'm uncomfortable with. I see the logic in what he is suggesting, but those are the very things that are causing my anxiety. I have a few weeks before I see him again.  I have a lot to think about until then.

Sitting Still

If you have been following my blog, you likely know that  I can't sit still for even a minute. And I mean literally sitting down. I can remember my dad being just the same way.  I really need meditation in my life. I wonder how dad would have managed?? For me, I have a long way to go before I have mastered it, but I'm getting better. I actually used it last night to get to sleep!

Saturday

Just One Minute... That's All I'm Asking

Set the timer on your computer for just one minute. That might be all that you can do at the moment and that's fine. Now close your eyes and just be. You have no where that you have to be for the 60 seconds ahead. This is your time and nothing is going to interrupt this special time.  Now just breathe in and out until the timer goes off.

If this is the first time you have ever meditated, write it down on the calendar. (I keep track of my practice on a white board.)  Meditating for 30 or more minutes just doesn't work for me, but multiple minutes throughout the day does!  I began in March and now it's a daily thing for me.   I also keep track of all the minutes. I am amazed at how many moments of silence I have collected since I began!

You have no idea just how much you have done for your mind and body.
